Ride starts at Woodlawn. Take the #4 to its northern terminus and walk down stairs to meeting place in flagpole plaza; or take the D train to its northern terminus (Norwood 205th St) and ride 8/10 mile north on Bainbridge to meeting place on left where Bainbridge joins Jerome Ave.
This is a standard route to Tarrytown via the North & South County Trailways and Sleepy Hollow Road. Some sections of trail are rough and there's a break in the trailway at Elmsford, putting you on busy Rte. 9 for a short distance, but otherwise the route up is quiet & pretty. Stop at J & G Deli to pick up your picnic lunch and carry it a mile and a half to Kingsland Point Park for a picnic by the river. The return is on Broadway and Warburton, but then side streets through Yonkers to avoid Riverdale Ave. Once you're back on Broadway, stop at Lloyd's Carrot Cake for your afternoon treat and watch the cricket match in Van Cortlandt Park as you snack. Then cross the Broadway Bridge and come back via Bennett, Ft. Washington and Riverside Dr.
