And who are the dogs of Chappaqua? Hillary & Bill, of course.

Riverdale Ave, Warburton and 9 to the Tarrytown Deli for the first stop. Old Sleepy Hollow, 448 and on to lunch in Chappaqua. You can turn off on Old House Ln and see if you can ID the old Clinton digs. Then it is on to climb Whippoorwill from the north with one steep ‘wall’ just before the crest. Descend on Whippoorwill Crossing and climb out of 120 on Nanny Hagen and on to West Lake. Return via Grassy Sprain, Webster and NYC. Optional subway returns off Bedford Park Blvd.

Has some dirt roads and hard pack.

This Shore Route out is best done earlier in the day and in a group of riders as opposed to solo. The motor traffic can be overwhelming.

Original cue sheet takes the Grand Concourse but the RWGPS route takes Sedgwick and Goulden, a more bike friendly route.

Also slight change on return to avoid the other less than bike friendly Mosholu Pkwy.

A beautiful ride past the reservoir on Rte. 22. Route avoids major climbs but is certainly not flat. Numerous bailouts on way up and back on Metro North. Lunch on the lawn at Schreifer’s Deli, cheesecake in Tarrytown, carrot cake at B’way & 250th St.  Old B-SIG route.  Small differences between original cue & RWGPS route, such as earlier exit from Grand Concourse.

One of our best routes. This is what cycling is all about. Bravo Fred. Vista Maria is all about steep. Unless you are on performance enhancing drugs, do not attempt it on a 39 x 21! But if you have gearing and enjoy a challenge, it is worth the effort. It is a yardstick to measure other climbs against. Please check current Metro North times to and from GCT & Poughkeepsie. 7100' vertical gain. Note: map shows region but cue sheet has been subsequently altered..
