Basic ride up to NWP that crosses Westlake (Kensico Dam) and climbs the ridges to Tarrytown, where you can take the train, or continue on to NYC.

Good first foray thru Westchester and short season ride as follows Metro North Harlem line north and Hudson line south: weather bailouts. Metro North rail pass needed if bail out in Tarrytown.

RWGPS route and cue sheet starts on the Bronx side of the Broadway Bridge and avoids the not so bike friendly Grand Concourse.

A real up and down affair. Hilly, that is. And scenic.

Leave from the White Plains train station and head up the Westchester/Fairfield county line. Hardpack into Bedford Village, then on through Ward Pound Ridge Reservation. Rollercoaster through the East Woods of Pound Ridge, then scream down Oanoke Ridge for lunch in New Canaan. On through North Stamford and down to Greenwich to finish. Train it back to NYCC; Bring your MNRR pass. Did we mention it's hilly?

Map on page 2. Long Island Sound to the Hudson River, but from distant railroad stations. You can't say that every day! Metro North bike pass needed. Check train schedules for current times. Possible bail out in Wassaic, near Sharon, CT. But this train runs every other hour. The cue sheet can sometimes be difficult to follow. Here are some observations: "I think 136 ends in a "T". You go right and then 57 will be a bear left." "I don't think there was any marking or direction change when you are on Botsford Hill Rd, I think you just run into Toddy Hill Rd.

RWGPS link in Waypoints, futher above, is southbound route. It is 1400' gain.

I have updated the cue sheet that Hannah had originally submitted. So much has been changed on this route that it deserved to be rewritten, from access to added length. Thank you Hannah for getting this on the Ride Library.

Scenic route through Westchester with several nice climbs. Challenging but do-able as a B ride. The Grassy Spain return continues the hills; the Tarrytown return is shorter and a bit flatter, plus has MetroNorth bailouts in case of bad weather. Train to White Plains station to start the ride, or do a standard route to White Plains to make it an 85 mile ride.  RWGPS and pdf cue sheet for Tarrytown return differ slightly from original cue sheet.
